When it comes to refreshing summer drinks you can’t really beat lemonade but what if I told you…you could! Okay, okay that’s a bold statement but sometimes you might want something a little different but just as refreshing and this Orange Lemonade Refresher is just the thing. Slightly sweetened and with freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice this drink has the perfect punch of fresh citrus flavor! It’s so simple to put together so let’s get right into the recipe, shall we?
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (2-3 oranges)
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2-3 lemons)
- 6 cups cold water
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (+/- based on preference)
- ice, to serve
Directions:
This recipe is pretty much as simple as it looks so let’s just run right through it! First thing first is juicing those oranges and lemons. If you have an electric or handheld juicer I recommend using it because it makes things a lot simpler. You can definitely do it by hand it will just take a bit longer but it’s a great work out so maybeeee, it’s worth it, hahaha. Make sure to catch any seeds to keep them out of your drink.
The amount of oranges and lemons you will need will definitely depend on the size of the ones you have. I found with 3 oranges and 2 lemons I had enough juice. Using an extra orange and lemon slice a few thin slices of orange and lemon to garnish.
After juicing put both the orange juice and lemon juice in a large jug and then add in the water and lastly the sugar. Mix it all thoroughly with a long stirring rod (or a chopstick like I do, hahaha) until sugar is completely dissolved. You can taste to see if it’s sweet enough for you and add a bit more sugar if needed. I wanted it to just be slightly sweetened with a little kick of tartness from the lemon.
And now it’s done! To serve, fill your glasses with ice and add a slice of orange and lemon to glass and top it off with the refresher!
